At least twice a year, Guardian Pharmacy of Minnesota sponsors professional development opportunities for providers serving aging Minnesotans and those with specialized needs. Recently we offered a foster care lunch and learn seminar attended by over 160 foster care providers.
Becky Eikmeier, program services consultant, DC/DM, mental health practitioner at Star Services, presented three topics during the four hour seminar. The first segment, “Reducing Medication Errors,” was a detailed review of medication administration procedures needed to prevent errors. Becky then helped ease the intimidation of a 245D licensing review by exploring organization of medical records and foster care policies and procedures during the “What to Expect When Expecting a 245D Licensing Review” segment. Finally, the “Rekindle Your Professional Passion” segment was designed to help revitalize the “passion within” that motivates individuals to pursue the healthcare profession.
Each attendee received four CEU’s and nurses received 4.8 CEU’s. A special thanks to our three local vendors – Novo Nordisk, Reliable Medical Supply, and Option Care – who enhanced the event atmosphere by providing networking opportunities.
Guardian Minnesota is in the process of scheduling our spring 2016 event. We encourage participants, customers and other providers to recommend educational content and networking ideas.
